New Moon Review :)

I have now seen the movie twice so I thought I would finally review it...

"Shoot," I muttered when the paper sliced my finger; I pulled it out to examine the damage. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut.

It all happened very quickly then.

Edward threw himself at me, flinging me back across the table...

I tumbled down to the floor by the piano, with my arms thrown out instinctively to catch my fall, into the jagged shards of glass. I felt the searing, stinging pain that ran from my wrist to the crease inside my elbow.

Dazed and disoriented, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm—into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires.

****

For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning...

Legions of readers entranced by the New York Times bestseller Twilight are hungry for the continuing story of star-crossed lovers, Bella and Edward. In New Moon, Stephenie Meyer delivers another irresistible combination of romance and suspense with a supernatural twist. Passionate, riveting, and full of surprising twists and turns, this vampire love saga is well on its way to literary immortality.

Okay I got that from Stephenie Meyers website but if you haven't been living under a rock for the last year and a half then you get the idea.

The movie was amazing!!! I am a huge twihard and it was worth the wait. Because I live in Australia we were one of the first countries to see the movie because of the time differences around the world.

I'm not sure what to say...the movie was perfect.It was full of action, romance, heartbreak and everything a good movie should have. It had a strong story line and really captivates the viewer. The cliff-hanger ending is fantastic as it encourages the viewer to want to see the next movie. It didn't exactly follow the exact story line but it was sure a hell close. Kristen Stewart played Bella Swan well. She didn't seem as much of a stoner in this movie. She portrayed all emotions so well and Taylor Lautner....OMFG he is gawjus. He is also a great actor and portrayed Jacob Black SO well...Especially when he took his shirt off. He is pretty much the only person in the movies that I see as their character in the book. As for he rest of the characters they were just as amazing....except maybe Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen (I'm team Edward) but he just didn't do it for me. The rest of the Cullen's all played their minor roles extremely passionately...Alice is seen the most and she is very enthusiastic. Then theres the Volturri...WOW. They were a tad funny but mostly freaky as hell. Overall the acting was of very high quality.

The quality of the cinematography in this movie in the saga was exceptional...also with a Way higher budget of course than twilight.The special effects were magnificent and the werewolves were amazing! It still kept the feeling of the first movie though not as green. The playlist was amazing.Including songs from Death Cab For Cutie, Muse, Thom Yorke Anya Marina and many more...pretty much all indie artists VIEW IT HERE!.

I recommend this for EVERYONE.

Again if you don't agree with my opinions and ideas leave a comment beacause I would much like to know your view :)

Dear Phyllis...

I'm Done, I'm Done, I'M DONE!!!
No more Grade 9 EVER! :)

I finished on Thursday so I know this is a little bit late but oh well better late than never I guess. The last day was so much fun. At lunch time my group and some year 10 girls made water balloons and dropped them from the balcony on he year 9 plastics group. It was fuckin hilarious. We had to like sprint away coz im on my last chance or i'm expelled and that would have probably done it.

On Thursday night it was my little brothers graduation. It has to be the stupidest thing ive ever been to. We had to sit in church for like 2 hours then I had to watch him sing and do a whole lotta crap that i didnt really care about. I ended up sitting behind a girl im fighting with and the whole time her mother kept giving me evil glares. Then they made us so like grace or something before we ate nibblies thingo and it was really really dull.

On Friday my brothers had to go to school but I didnt so I went into Rocky with my muumy. We gave out some of her resumes on the way then she had to go to work. I ended up hanging around the shopping centre for like 5 hours because I couldnt be bothered to catch a bus. The positive aspects of hanging around in a shopping cantre all day is that you come to know people. I ended up making friends with alot of shop keepers becoz i tend to just talk to people. I bought The Count of Monte Cristo for $7 :)

After hanging at the shops pretty much all day I had to watch my little brother play rugby. Stupid kid can play any damn sport he likes and be good at it. He ended up getting most promising player. While I was watching one of my teacher came up and said hi...I was like hi and then it was really awkward. Haha.

And today....Well today was fun. I had judo in the morning and it was quite un-eventful. Just flipped a few people and sat on them :) It took us like half an hor to get out of the parking-lot because all thes bikies were there. After judo I went to thwe movies with my friends. We saw New Moon...again and my friend alex and I laughed in all the wrong places :D Then we went shopping and looked around for a bit. Then my friend left I went and hung out in mums shop and went home.......That leads us to now.

I've saved $94.40 not including the $11.50 I used at the movies today which ment I saved $105.90. Go me :) I can never save money coz i always end up spending it.

OMG I never told you...I start work on Wednesday :) As a waitress at the marina. I'm excited coz then i'll be able to save even more money for my trip to Japan :D.

Anyways
Peace and Happines to you, Pixii xox.

Art Assessment.....:(

I think i'm going to fail art this term. My assignment sucks pretty bad and I haven't finished my sureallistic drawing...

Have a sqiz...

Head Over Heels
Appraising Assignment.
Art, Term 4 2009

The clothing or costume an artist chooses for his subject matter can say a great deal about the person or persons. It can tell the viewer about the culture, the society, the time in history, the religion, the occupation, even the social status of the person in the artwork. An artwork which supports this argument is ‘The Arnolfini Portrait.’ The Arnolfini Portrait was painted by Jan Van Eyck. Van Eyck was from Masseik (Belgium) and was born in the 1390s and died in 1441. He was part of the art movement, the northern renaissance. The Arnolfini Portrait was painted with oil paints on oak in 1434.

The artwork is of two people, Giovanni and his wife. At first she appears to be pregnant. This is a misconception and the woman is just holding her full-skirted dress in the contemporary fashion. The couple are holding hands and the man has his right hand extended. There is a dog at their feet; beside them is a pair of odd looking shoes that were popular in Europe in the 1400s. In the background there is a mirror that shows two figures in the doorway. One may be the painter himself; Arnolfini raises his right hand as he faces them, perhaps in greeting. Above the mirror there is an ornate signature that translates into ‘Jan Van Eyck was here 1434’.Both persons are wearing clothing that was popular for upper class citizens in Europe in the 1400s.

The technique that Van Eyck has used to create the artwork is brush to apply paint. This was done with tightly controlled strokes as to make it more realistic and detailed. Using tightly controlled strokes, he has created a realistic painting showing different effects with light and shading.

Colours are a big part within a painting. Colours that are mainly used in this artwork are red some of the furnishing, green for the woman’s dress, navy for the Giovanni’s clothing and also greys, black and browns. These give contrast to each other and draw the eye to different sections of the piece.

Lines express emotion, show direction and create different effects in works of art. In the painting of Arnolfini and his Wife, Van Eyck has used delicate, lines to create effective detail.

Using space makes objects appear closer or further away, it gives perspective and gives you a sense of confusion or openness. As for Arnolfini and his Wife the artwork makes you feel quite cluttered. The artist has positioned the objects close together and has also varied the size of the objects making them look further away or closer.

Shapes are what make an artwork. The give structure, they are the basis for everything. In the case of this artwork the shapes are realistic. They are flowing because they are detailed and realistic. Using these shapes he has portrayed realistic humans and created a realistic environment.

Some paintings use texture to make things stand, be bold and to set the kind of feeling the artwork has. From look at a picture of the artwork the painting comes across as having a smooth texture. But seeing as I have not seen the actual artwork I wouldn’t really know.

Tone makes things look more dimensional and realistic. Jan Van Eyck has used a contrast of light and dark in many areas. There is light coming in from the window and there are darker shadows where the light doesn’t reach. The light is gleaming off the chandelier. This makes the artwork look quite realistic.

The artwork is altogether balanced. It is realistic and everything is situated in a normal manner.

The Arnolfini Portrait is a portrait of Giovanni di Nicolao and his wife. It is not intended as a record of their wedding and his wife is not pregnant as often thought. Giovanni came from a wealthy merchant family and therefore they are situated in a well-appointed interior. Both persons in the artwork are dressed according to the time (1400s) and where they are from (Europe). The woman is wearing a long, full skirted dress and a head piece traditional to Northern Europe. The man is wearing what looks to be a long coat and a hat that was popular in the 1400s in Northern Europe. It shows that they are both upper- class citizens.

The way a person is dressed in an artwork can make a whole lot of difference. If there was a man dressed as a 15th century European priest in a contemporary Australian artwork it wouldn’t make too much sense. It also can show what era, time in history, race, religion, social status and sexual orientation a person is. If you look closely at an artwork you can find out more that what is perceived.

That's it...
Lets get fucked up an die, Pixii xoxo :)

Dear Phyllis...

Homework time :( help?
....didn't think so.

Haha instead I am writing this while listening to music put on random...at this moment i am listening to Hysteria by Muse :)...oh and i'm pimping my myspace :)

Today was not absolute shit it just was very...boring? Double Japanese, PE theory, Religion and double maths. I start exam block on Friday and my first two exams are maths and PE. I havent listened in either this term so i'm a tad screwed. In PE we're doing systems of the body which is farely simple but I can't be fucked to remember all the bones and muscles in the human body. Maths is another load of shit altogether. We've been doing data and algebra shit...linear equasions. Since I got kicked out of the class for like 2 weeks I have barely learned anything.

I'm screwed aye :(

Oh well, this afternoon I signed up for the school musical next year. We're doing 'The Wiz' and i'm hoping to get a good part coz I can sing alright. I'm kinda excited because its something out of my comfort zone since i'm usually one of the sporty girls...or nerds??

Oh and my boyfriend and I are kinda fighting....I feel sad and angry and shitty and I miss him. I will hopefully be going to a party on the weekend with him so it shall be okay...I hope :)

...becoz cute is what we aim for :)

Hugs and kisses Pixii xox

Dead Poets Society Review :)

'Robin Williams Seizes the day in DEAD POETS SOCIETY'

Released in 1989 and directed by Peter Weir this epic coming of age film tells the story of a group of boys who attend a traditional 19th century style prepatory school in 1959. It portrays the issues that young adults face when making the passage from childhood into adulthood. Winning an Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen, Dead Poets Society also won thirteen other awards and was nominated for another fifteen.

When painfully shy Todd Anderson played by Ethan Hawke attends Welton Academy, a prestigious prepatory school in Vermont, he is befriended by his roommate Neil Perry who is played by Robert Sean Leonard. Along with their friends Knox Overstreet, Charlie Dalton, Steven Meeks, Gerard Pitts and Richard Cameron they meet their new English teacher, Mr John Keating who is played by Robin Williams. Keating encourages the boys to re-initiate the Dead Poets Society and guides them as they struggle with the issues of growing up and finding their own individual identities in a conformist environment. This ultimately leads to un-foreseen consequences in which the boys are challenged think about who they are and find the courage to be true to themselves.

Written by Tom Schulman, Dead Poets Society is semi- autobiographical and is loosely based on Schulmans education at Montgomery Bell Academy, a prepatory school in Nashville, Tennessee. The story is one that many can relate to exploring themes that often occur when growing up. The script is witty and is appropriate for the era and the time the movie was set. It is also appropriate for the ages and background of the characters with the students speaking like teenagers and teachers speaking in more educated manner.

The use of a wide range of different camera angles, the extreme close-ups and the different tones of lighting give the scenes a more dramatic effect. The score, which was written by Maurice Jarre sets the mood for the scenes. The music is not too complicated or forceful but its simplicity is what makes the music wonderful and compliments the film so perfectly. In the film contemporary music is sometimes used which helps set the mood of the time.

Robin William seizes the day in Dead Poets Society. He portrays his character the inspirational Mr John Keating with enthusiasm and shows the real extent of this dynamic acting. Neil Perry is smart and popular but is very much under the thumb of his overbearing father who wants him to become a doctor. Neil is played by Robert Sean Leonard who later went on to play a doctor in the 2005 TV series House. Leonard plays Perry with emotion and enthusiasm grabbing the audience and keeping their attention. Ethan Hawke plays Todd Anderson who is shy and quiet. He portrays Anderson well especially in the more emotional scenes when he finally speaks out.

Dead Poets Society deals with most of the themes that occur in any good coming of age film. The main theme is Carpe Diem, seize the day. Mr Keating encourages his class to seize the day and make their life extraordinary. The boys, especially the members of the Dead Poets Society incorporate this as their motto and use it as their encouragement. Another theme or issue is identity and individuality. Each boy, especially Neil is seeking their own individual persona away from the conformist behaviours of the school, their parents’ wishes and the rest of their peers. Unity is identified when the Dead Poets Society comes together and supports each other and also when the unity is betrayed. Other themes that are explored are sexuality, coming to terms with mortality/death, realism versus idealism, authority versus non-conformity and rebellion.

Even though Dead Poets Society was set 50 years ago every issue and theme is still relevant in growing up today and will stay relevant for years to come. Dead Poets Society is sure to become a classic of our time. I give this a film a rating of four and a half stars out of five. Are you prepared to seize the day and check out Dead Poets Society for yourself?

O Captain my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weathered every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up--for you the flag is flung for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You've fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchored safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Haha this was my English assignment...we had to do a review for a coming of age movie, pretty good aye :) It's a bit corny and stupid and shit but remember i'm only in Grade 9. I had to do it as an oral presentation. OMG only 9 days of school left for this year :D

Love Pixii xox

アエイオウカキクケコサシスセソタチツテトマミムメモナニヌネノ

Oh well. Today I had to go to school. First up I had art which is a bludge. Its the last art lesson for the year but oh well...At break we had a party for my friends birthday. I bought a cake but I was gonna make one until i discovered we had no eggs :) We got into trouble again for stealing the year 11s umbrella. Then I had Japanese. I like Japanese apart from the fact that I barely understand any of it. I got 19 1/2 out of 25 on a quiz so I'm doing okay. Lunch time. After lunch I had Religion and SOSE. Because I go to a catholic private school, religion is mandatory until year 12...gay aye. We're learning sexual morality. Its a good laugh. For SOSE we were in a computer lab which is a super bludge. I was so embarrassed when i received a photocopy of my practice exam....the whole class got it as an example for what to do. I am now officially a nerd :( The whole time my friends and I talked about giving a Mohawk to her pet rat. After school I went with my brother into Rockhampton for rugby and came home and painted my toe nails black :)

Oh btw last night I dyed my hair plum. Its kinda purplish black and I love it. I get bored very easy so I seem to dye my hair alot.

School again tomorrow.

Oh and the fitness plan is going well. I ran for thirty minutes on the treadmill :) Day 1 went well in my opinion

Lots of Love Pixii xox.

Are you naked??

Dear Phyllis...

Well today would be the wonderful but utterly horrible Sunday. Why utterly horrible?.....school tomorrow :(

This weekend has been quite eventful though...

Yesterday I went to Ridges which is the resort in my stupid little home town. At Ridges I hung out with my friends and did shit that most people do when they go to a pool. There is this waterfall there and my boyfriend and his stupid friends decided they would do backflips and shit off it into the water until we got caught and kicked out. By then we had had enough anyways so a few of us went and stayed at my friends house for the night. My friend lives on a farm and breeds alpacas. So we went quad biking all around her property and stuff all afternoon. Then we decided we would play tennis at night on her un-finished tennis court. It was all good until i chased after the dog and got coat-hangered on the un-finished fence. Now I have a huge red mark on my neck the looks like 10 hickeys combined. After that we had dinner and shit and watched movies. We had to watch Transformers or someone died...or that was the threat. Then we watched 10 Things I hate About You and the first Harry Potter. By then it was like 4am in the morning so we decided we would brush our teeth. We ended up sitting in the bath tub brushing our teeth and talking about random shit. After that we danced. Just kinda randomly we danced like that asian guy outta Hot Rod. Then we watched Death at a Funeral and by then it was like 6am today, so we went out on the quad bikes. For a ciy kid I am quite good at driving a quad. The Army cadet were out training in the property so we followed them round for a while then my friends mum dropped me home and right now i am supposed to be cleaning my mothers wardrobe.

I think I shall watch Harry Potter and maybe start that wardrobe.....maybe

Gotta get into the habit of doing this more.

Lovers you....Pixii xox. <3

P.S I officially start my get fit scheme tomorrow so wish me luck :)
